Introduction

- Acute vira disease, mosty seen in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Africa
- Transmitted by mosquitoes (mainy Aedes aegypti)
- Incubation period of 3-6 days
- Symptoms : fever, chis, myagias, headache, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, jaundice,
hemorrhagic symptoms, mutisystem organ faiure, death
Vaccination

- One dose at east 10 days before departure
- Effective for at east 10 years and booster every 10 years if needed
Contraindications

- Aergy to vaccine component
- Acute iness or fever
- Age < 6 months
- Immunodeficiencies or immunosuppressive therapies
- Pregnancy / breastfeeding
Precautions

- Adverse events : fever, headache, myagias, fatigue, rash, erythema/pain/sweing at the injection site. Usuay subside in 1-2 days.
- Suggest increase water intake and avoid vigorous exercises.
- Suggest immediatey return to the heathcare faciities if severe reactions deveop
- Separate from typhoid vaccine (injection) by at east 3-4 weeks.
